How do I transfer from one dog food to another?

Transferring your dog from one food to another should be done gradually over the course of several days to avoid digestive upset. Here's a general guideline on how to transition your dog from one food to another:

  • Start by mixing a small amount (about 25%) of the new food with the current food. You can gradually increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of old food over the next few days.
  • Watch your dog's reaction to the new food. Some dogs may experience digestive upset, such as diarrhea or vomiting, during the transition period. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, you may want to transition more slowly or consult with your veterinarian.
  • It's important to make sure your dog is drinking enough water during the transition period. You can add a little water to the new food to make it more palatable and encourage your dog to drink more water.
  • Once you have fully transitioned to the new food, monitor your dog's weight, coat condition, energy level, and overall health to make sure the new food is meeting their nutritional needs.

Remember that each dog is unique, and their nutritional needs may vary depending on their age, breed, activity level, and health condition. It's always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian before making any changes to your dog's diet.
